Philosophy...
Through my placement I got to see how others had acted in a
leadership role and how they reflected their own personal beliefs and values.
With this I was able to detect what styles were effective for leading in
that environment and what were rejected. Becoming aware of this I was observant
of other leaders in my community and saw a lot of similar effective tactics recipicated.
I was able to grasp these skills to
enhance my own performance as a leader. “Learning is best done through teaching which is best done through example”- Martin Luther King, JR. I saw that being
organized helped to maintain an efficiently run class as well as prevent
stressful situations. Staying goal
orientated is also something that is reflected in these communities because you
are given a certain task each day with the expectation to complete it can
become overwhelming. I noticed that these successful leaders prioritized what
was most important to complete and set aside time to work on them.
Additionally, a common trait amongst these leaders in comparison to famous leaders in history is perseverance. We look up to proclaimed great leaders such as Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr, Jackie Robinson, etc. We look at those we admire in our own lives, coaches, activist, even celebrities. We can appreciate their hard work and determination for their success. In order to achieve this you must be committed and goal oriented. You must be patient and realize that change will take time and people will stem into your way. It is essential to work well with others, as “success comes from the nation rather individual” – John. F Kennedy. Along with this I belive that in order to lead you need to captivate your public by inspiring them. Motivating people is quite hard and accept that logical reasons for you may come as a foreign language to others. Work to lead by example, show the benefits as to what you are preaching.
With the overflowing information and knowledge on being a leader, what was my conclusion for success?
A successful leader will incorporate all of their knowledge and skills to help inspire those they are leading. They will motivate success, improve technique and though may feel defeated at times, keeps going back because they are so committed to help.
